CLB Novels: Blog
Rest easy, Dad.
My dad passed away at the age of 71. He was a beautiful soul and a great father. My grief is tremendous. I will speak more of him at a later date. Mr. Herman E. Bullock, you are missed.

Black to Blonde to Berry to Black
I declared this year for New Year that I would embrace the notion of “Living One’s Extra Life.” Remembering that the only constant in this world is the concept of change inspired me to a challenge. What better way to seize the bull by the horns than by letting out the berry in me?
For most of the pandemic months of 2021, I began following a few content creators on YouTube to pass the time and glean more information. Brad Mondo – a hairstylist and creator, reminded his viewers to live their extra life; he produced a hair color and hair care product line, XMondo. I felt compelled to support and try his semi-permanent berry hair color.
Only, I had one problem. My hair is a very dark brown, and I wanted to make this change myself. So, I journeyed to my favorite beauty supply store to secure bleach, toner, and a few hair accessories to begin my journey to my berry look. I prepared for the transformation with a healthy swig from one of my favorite coffee mugs. And, I got to work!
I must say that I genuinely enjoyed the results. I want to thank Brad Mondo, his staff, all his tutorials, and his care with his product line. I love my new attitude and color for spring and summer. I maintained the firey color change for four months and missed my dark color tremendously. So, in the late days of July, I returned to an even darker shade than my natural state. I still feel more balanced. The moral of the story is, yes, live your extra life and have fun; however, stay true to yourself while being extraordinary!
Valentines 2022
I desired to revisit the indoor picnic scene and settled on creating a cozy space in front of our fireplace. Celebrating love with my husband reminds me that faith never fails. I am surprised and forever grateful he came into my life to show me true love and compassion exist. I face and continue to stand up to many challenges that leave me to question my self-worth, sanity, dreams, and faith. However, the life and love that grows between us encourage me to press forward with plans and build a glorious relationship.
We were taking a moment to design a pace to celebrate, and unwinding played a key role in how we marked the holiday. The setup remained a crucial point in displaying the right level of ambiance. I researched a few helpful tips from the website Pinterest to pull off a dramatic setting for us to enjoy.
Snowfall 2022
I love how the change of season reminds me that everything has its place and timing. Living in Durham, North Carolina, the experience of all seasonal weather occurs regularly. The Appalachian mountains rest about a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean is a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the east. The piedmont experiences the cold, the hot, the windy, the arid, and all levels within the spectrum.
On this crisp January morning, I awoke to find that the first snowfall of 2022 had come down silently overnight. I am fond of the light dusting of snow to refresh the scene. Marveling at the calm tone as I photographed our patio and front porch, I mused that even mother nature needed to pull up her cozy socks and reflect on the blessings a new year brings as the land rests and prepares for the spring. I returned inside with that pressing notion and began constructing my week and goal planning with new vigor as the chill reached my bones. The coffee beckoned.
