Starting with a glorious concert that led us straight to the beach to soak up the early-morning sun, a relaxing holiday getaway drowned out the noise and stress of the week/year. Jill Scott enticed the attendees with her soul sounds, filling the DPAC with tunes that moved the soul and enhanced our date-night adventures. Peter, unfamiliar with her total body of work, noticed a few songs I hummed around the house.
I gotta say, his ease and recognition still excited me. (Thanks, Mrs. Scott!) We swayed and cuddled as the night drew late. The moment came for us to depart for the beach. A surprise sandy getaway, meant to extend the essence of love and connection, greeted us as we said goodbye to the last days of spring.
We awoke after a restorative rest and breakfast; the beach called and we answered. With a few hours passing slowly, we packed up our belongings and went in search of lunch. Luckily, the Sagebrush Steakhouse provided a late lunch/early dinner right down the street from the hotel. The conversation and meal fed the soul. We reveled in the time spent during this holiday getaway. By the time checkout arrived on Sunday, we were already halfway home. The Father’s Day traffic was light, so we made our trek home in decent timing. Once home and recuperating from the day’s warmth, Bob Evans restaurant called us back out to round out our weekend meals, tantalizing us with the promise of cheesy potato soup. All and all, Juneteenth/Father’s Day weekend allowed us the enjoy each other and mark the season’s change. Happy Summertime.
