When I mention this milestone that my husband and I are celebrating, seven years of marriage, many people exclaimed, “Seven – that’s the year of completion!”. I found this exuberance intriguing.

Peter and I travelled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for the weekend.

We set up a table in our room to quietly renew our vows and commitment to our journey together. We visited a thrift/consignment shop and obtained a few impeccable items to set our celebration off right. The incredible finds, such as stemware etched with ‘Happy Anniversary’ and a porcelain salt and pepper shaker, created the elegance needed to rekindle our desire to pursue happiness together in wedded bliss, based on our terms, since we have to live them truly. The shop had a miniature sand hourglass that immediately made us think of our sand ceremony and the blending of our worlds. For our activity, we decided to take on Escapology’s Mansion Murder escape room. We may need to continue working on our communication skills, as we did not meet the sixty-minute time limit. (Sigh! Maybe next time.)

The weekend weather forecast entailed scattered rainstorms, and the radar did not disappoint; however, the rain could not dampen our spirits. We relished the cooler breeze that dropped the normally humid August weather to a comfortable 78 degrees during our entire weekend. We spent time on the beach before the afternoon showers.

After the morning beach time, we enjoyed the resort’s hot spa pools and relaxed til dinner time with some childhood treats courtesy of an ice cream truck.

We took up a dining recommendation from my mom, ‘The Original Benjamin’, and the buffet was delightful. We ended the phenomenal weekend with safe traveling mercies home.

I do feel a sense of completion and am ready to embark on the next seven years. Cheers to leveling up.
